As an evidence-based program, the Healthy Zone School Program provides resources and guidance to schools to help create a culture of health and wellness, and has shown very positive results. We are deeply invested in the health of our children and in helping raise a healthier generation. 


  • School Health Advisory Committee: 89% of schools had a School Health Advisory Committee in place by the end of their first year in the program. This represents a 46% increase from baseline.
  • Staff Wellness Committee: 85% of schools had a Staff Wellness Committee in place by the end of their first year in the program. This represents a 42% increase from baseline.

 

All cohorts increase the number of programs and activities as a result of implementing the Healthy Zone School Program.

 

The percentage of students meeting HFZ standards for aerobic capacity was higher for those at HZS’s compared to students at schools across the state of Texas. The trend was similar for body mass index, although the differences were not as large.
