GRANT OPPORTUNITIES
The Healthy Zone School Program has brought together school-based grant opportunities to enhance physical activity, nutrition, and health among youth. If you have any questions about a grant opportunity, please contact the funding organization.
School Breakfast Grants
Nearly 250 schools will receive grant awards to support increased breakfast participation with new alternative breakfast programs, including breakfast in the classroom or grab and go. Schools must participate in the National School Breakfast Program and have a free and reduced percentage of 40% or greater.
Funding: $2,000 or $3,000
Due Date: April annually
Walmart Community Grant Program
The Walmart Foundation is offering funding for a school-based project that will benefit a local food pantry, soup kitchen, or clothing closet in your community.
Funding: $250 to $5,000
Due Date: Rolling
Kids Run the Nation Grant
The Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) will award a total of $30,000 as small grants to elementary and middle schools with an after-school running club.
Funding: $500 to $1,000
Due Date: August annually
Good Sports Grant
Funding to buy new PE equipment to engage and encourage youth to be physically active.

Association of American Educators Foundation Grant
The grant can be used for a variety of projects and materials to enhance the classroom and improve student learning.
Funding: $500

Fuel Up to Play 60 Grant
Does your school participate in Fuel Up to Play 60? If so, check out the Fuel Up to Play 60 grant opportunity that targets BOTH healthy eating and physical activity.
Funding: Up to $4,000 per year for qualified schools
Due Date: April and November annually
Bill Belichick Foundation
The Bill Belichick Foundation Grant recognizes deserving high school teams/athletics programs, community athletic centers/fields, and/or nonprofit ahtletic programs in need of financial support.
Funding: $10,000
Due Date: June annually
Project Learning Tree
Project Learning Tree offers GreenWorks! grants up to $1,000 to schools and youth organizations for environmental service-learning projects that link classroom learning to the real world. Students implement an action project they help design to green their school or to improve an aspect of their neighborhood’s environment.
Funding: $1,000
Due Date: Annually September 30th
The Esping Family Foundation
The Esping Family Foundation exists to help people and institutions of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas help themselves and future generations. Under the terms of its charter, the Foundation can distribute grants only to qualified public entities or 501(c)(3) charities serving the people of Texas. Focus areas include K-12 education, youth development, and children & families.
Funding: $500 to $50,000

The Donald Samull Classroom Herb Garden Grant
As a recipient from the estate of Donald Samull, The Herb Society of America established an herb garden grant for elementary school classes grades 3 through 6. These grants ensure that the use of herbs in teaching elementary school students will continue for years to come, a tradition Mr. Samull — an elementary school teacher — used in his classroom to engage and inspire his 3rd–6th grade students.
Public and/or private 3rd through 6th grade teachers, with classes of a minimum of fifteen (15) students may apply for an indoor or an outdoor herb garden grant.
Funding: $200
